The Contemporary Creation Center of Andalusia, C3A, presents the exhibition “Transitional Models: Nieto Sobejano Architects, MP&MP Rosado and SUPERFLEX”. This presentation, integrated by works of architects and visual creators, occupies the spaces annexed to the studios for artists in residence and the workshops. It presents a reflection on the very notion of model and model, architecture, representation and function, as a field of research in their daily performance. If art can speak of the image as representation, the selected works dilute the clear border between the useful (the sketch) and the end in itself (the work of art).

A model of the C3A, decontextualized from its usual location, the architects’ studio, dialogues with the work Iluminated Windows (2005) of the collective MP & MP Rosado, and in turn interferes with the planters of another group: SUPERFLEX. But at the same time, and although they share similar methodological elements, they establish diverse narratives, and paradoxes such as contemplating the model of a building within the building itself.

Reflection on identity is one of the essential themes on which the work of the MP & MP Rosado brothers (San Fernando, Cádiz, 1971) orbits. Thus, we find it represented in installations, sculptures and, with great profusion in photographs and drawings, this being the least known part of his work. His installation “Iluminated Windows” (2005) by the recurring question of Roberto Arlt in Aguafuertes Porteñas: “You have not noticed the illuminated windows at three in the morning?”, This work delves into the contemporary urban idiosyncrasy; in the stories that hide in the corners, in the experience of the crowd, or in the solitude that its inhabitants live on a daily basis. To build these fragments of houses MP & MP Rosado have used neutral materials -fundamentally paper and wood-, with very simple forms that allow a greater degree of suggestion, imagination and fantasy. Its objective is to create a fluctuating scenery that is transformed with the passing of the hours and that shows a seemingly empty world full of invisible presences.

The exhibition continues with the series “Maceteros” for investment banks of the Danish collective SUPERFLEX, which is made up of models of the buildings of the main corporate headquarters of twenty of the most important investment banks in the world, such as Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, CitiGroup, Barclays or Morgan Stanley. Each of them serves as a pot for hallucinogenic plants such as peyote and san pedro cactus, marijuana plants or oleanders.

A historical model of great symbolic value from the Contemporary Creation Center, created by Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, completes this unique journey.

The Art Club is a permanent initiative promoted by the C3A aimed at developing projects that are close to the district and fostering the proximity of citizens and collectives with contemporary creation and with the contents generated from the art center. The Art Club is formalized as a weekly call open to the southern district of Córdoba (area in which the C3A is located) from an accessible perspective to everyone, with content and practical workshops on various topics (art history, painting, video, sound art, installation …), which concern the creation of our time related to the contents that are generated from the C3A, also encouraging debate and knowledge about the art and culture of our time.

The sessions are open-ended, aimed at individuals, women’s associations and neighborhood associations in the southern district of Cordoba. All sessions will be held at the C3A facilities in the morning with a duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. This project has the collaboration of the Delegation of Citizen Participation of the City of Córdoba in the Southern district.
