“Forum for an Attitude” at Vitra Design Museum Gallery

Through a presentation of the works, objects, texts and infographics, the exhibition analyzes what drives contemporary designers and how their attitude is reflected in their creative output. In addition to the exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum Gallery, five multi-day events will be held at Depot Basel on various focal themes.

What is the ambition of designers today? Why did they become designers? What kind of social influence do they hope to achieve? What image of design is conveyed to society? Vitra Design Museum offers a new insight on African Modernism

Showcasing over 80 buildings in five countries, the exhibition shows the countries’ efforts to join an architectural ideal of progress and modernity to the simultaneous nation-building process that was taking place in the 1960’s.

The Vitra Design Gallery in Weil am Rhein is hosting an exhibtion on a remarkable and rather unknown period of architectural history, set in the 1960’s post-colonialist Africa. It adresses the relationship between the architectural production of five countries and their individual nation-building processes.
