Casa Maternidade in Oporto, Pablo Pita Architects

The intervention aims to adapt this typical Porto dwelling typology to the daily contemporary routines. This is set from a depuration exercise, developing mainly the stair core, in order to achieve a unifying element that could relate all these different spaces.

La casa Maternidade is a semidetached house occupping a restored nineteenth century building. It conceptually reinterprets the core of this type of model, recognizing the importance of light.

The portuguese Pablo Pita Architects based in Oporto, propose a design that generates a new scale on the core of the stairs, overlapping this new vertical path that runs along the existing house, achieving new crossing points with different visual and spatial relationships between all levels.
