“Where is my friend’s house?” at Maison des Arts de Malakoff

The exhibition “Where is my friend’s house?”, is a continuation of the commitments made by the Maison des Arts de Malakoff, and in its desire to present and address topics related to the news. By bringing together some twenty artists from the contemporary Syrian scene, the art center intends to offer artists a dialogue and the opportunity to testify.

A poetic nod to Abbas Kiarostami’s 1987 film, “Where is my friend’s house?” addresses the issue of loss and forced exile but also reconstruction, between memories, dreams and nightmares. Lost house, destroyed house, dream house, home invented … each of the artists with its history, its fractures and its humor, its poetry and its revolt, makes emerge a vibrant and sensitive world that tells us something else of the reality.
