“Low Tech, High Rise” residential towers for Berlin-Friedrichshain

Sustainable construction means simple construction – following this motto, architecture students at the TU Darmstadt have designed residential towers for Berlin-Friedrichshain. The works will be on display at The Architekturgalerie München.

The projects were developed under the direction of guest professor Armin Behles and in cooperation with the WBM housing association Berlin-Mitte. They were built in masonry made of highly insulating bricks. In conjunction with mineral plasters, this is an ecologically and economically convincing and durable construction method, only recently allowing to build tall houses. (more…)
