“Becoming”, Spanish Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Biennale

The curator Atxu Amann and a team of four others have selected, via an open call, 143 proposals that will be shown in the Spanish Pavilionduring the Biennale Architettura 2018, for the first time, Spain will present a virtual pavilion with another 293 proposals. The exhibition reflects the proposals and research that are being developed in learning environments along with the new multidisciplinary nature of architects.

In words of the curator Atxu Amann: “Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara emphasize the concept of generosity, which is important because we have to give space and time to those who are not yet able to build. We have been fortunate: I was already building at the age of 30 and they are young people of 35 and 40 who have never built. On the one hand, this has meant that they have no space for visibility, but on the other hand, it has also caused other readings to be provoked during this time, other architectural themes, other ways of being architects.
