“Elogio della Luce” by Gianni Galassi at Fondation Wilmotte’s gallery in Venice

Thirty-six black and white images of rationalist buildings in Rome and its surroundings make architecture expresses itself through photography. As in a metaphysical painting, the city is depicted as both antique and modern, while the urban landscape evokes an inner world.

The Wilmotte Foundation’s gallery in Venice  inauagurated on the 6th of November a photography exhibition named Elogio della Luce” (“Praise of light”). The 36 black and white images of rationalist buildings in Rome and its surroundings, shot by Italian photographer Gianni Galassi, make architecture expresses itself through photography. As in the metaphysical painting tradition, the city is depicted as both antique and modern, while the urban landscape evokes an inner world, as some sort of self-portrait.

Elogio della Luce has been specifically designed for Wilmotte Foundation’s gallery in Venice, offering the opportunity to explore the development of historic cities through art and culture. The exhibition, curated by Laura Ginapri, will last until the end of February 2016. (more…)
