Franco Fontana “Architectural Abstractions” exhibition at Expowall Milan

Franco Fontana has devoted 42 photographs to represent the architectural structures of the Expo Milano 2015 pavilions. The photographer gives an original interpretation of the architecture as a cultural legacy for the city of Milan and for the visitors and observers from all over the world.

EXPOWALL, the new photo gallery opened by Pamela Campaner and Alberto Meomartini in Milan, will host from 12 to 30 January “Architectural Abstractions”, the photo exhibition by Franco Fontana on the expo 2015 pavilions.

Milano Design Film Festival: third edition focuses on architecture, cities and territory

From October 15 to 18 an appointment with architecture and design returns to the big screen of the Anteo spazioCinema. The selection of more than 70 documentaries focuses on homages to indelible figures like Eileen Gray, Gio Ponti, Le Corbusier, and Alvar Aalto, among others.

 

 

 

Milano Design Film Festival is celebrating today the opening of it’s third edition, focused more than ever on architecture and urban landscapes. GLASS, the technology behind progress and experimentation in the World Expo

By the name of Innovation at the World Expo 1851 – now, Het Nieuwe Instituut’s exhibitions’ efforts focus on this single theme, trying to reveal through different approaches what makes Universal Exhibitions the perfect place for technological and formal experimentation, challenging scientists and designers alike.

In the context of the 34th World Expo opening in Milan this spring, Het Nieuwe Instituut is addressing this phenomenon from different perspectives, between April 26 and August 23, in three exhibitions: What is the Netherlands, GLASS and Garden of Machines. The recurring question in the programme is: under what conditions is innovation achieved, and what role do designers play within that process?

Before the opening of Expo 2015, Milan’s activities and preparations for the big International Fair will take place in an impressive new space in the heart of the city. Through the construction of two pyramid-like structures, Scandurra Studio have transformed and re-interpreted  a large square at the end of Dante street to host the information centre and ticket booth for the Expo as well as providing an urban rehearsal for the activities and ideas that shape this year’s slogan “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life“.
