“Power Architecture” inaugural exhibition at Casa da Arquitectura – Centro Português de Arquitectura

“Poder Arquitectura” is Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture’s inaugural exhibition. Organised by the architects Jorge Carvalho, Pedro Bandeira and Ricardo Carvalho, the exhibition will occupy the approximately 800 square meters of the Exhibition Aisle with a proposal of reflection around eight powers that align, intersect, inflect and diverge from each other.

In an exhibition of architecture, the only space that visitors experience is the gallery that houses it, the rest are representations of it. The exhibition Power/Architecture, which inaugurates Casa da Arquitectura, is designed for the former warehouse of the Royal Winery. The project explores the monumental extension and height of the nave with a single central void that encourages non-sequential visits and activities with the public. An electro welded mesh is the limit of the void, the first of three planes where photographs, models, objects, clippings, films, drawings and texts assembled. (more…)

Casa da Arquitectura – Centro Português de Arquitectura opening in Matosinhos

Casa da Arquitectura officially opened the doors of its new installations in Matosinhos, Porto. The new space occupies part of the block of the Real Vinícola, a group of buildings restored by the Municipality of Matosinhos with a project by the architect Guilherme Machado Vaz, with an area of about 5 thousand m2.

It is here that, during three days, an intense program of exhibitions, performances, debates, guided tours, films, music and activities for children and families will all involve everyone in a great celebration of architecture. Casa opens its exhibition program with two distinct proposals: in the Exhibition Aisle we will have “Poder Arquitectura”, curated by the architects Jorge Carvalho, Pedro Bandeira and Ricardo Carvalho who will occupy approximately 800 square meters of the Aisle with a proposal for reflection on “eight powers that align, inflect and diverge among themselves” and involves 40 projects of about 30 different authors from around the world.
