OUI by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec
May 26 – December 31, 2019

The park surrounding Kunsthal Aarhus will set the scene for OUI a series of four new outdoor sitting installations that will act as informal meeting points for guests, designed by the acclaimed French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
The first platform takes the form of a large ring suited for sitting, with a lamp. Like light point or lighthouse, it helps to guide people into a coloured cloud. Two other platforms are installed around a tree. They concretize the dialogue or relationship between nature and the seated people.
The last type of platform consists of a large circle with a fireplace in its centre. Place where people can huddle around the embers. The idea of taking fire to the heart of the city reminds of gathering around bonfires. Contemplating the flames gives rise to moments of collective interaction and daydreaming.
The platforms have many different uses for various moments. They act as large collective benches and provide a place for meeting or relaxing in the middle of the city.
Jacob Fabricius, Artistic director, Kunsthal Aarhus says:
“Ronan and Erwan Bouroullecs aesthetic is timeless, cool and elegant, while being innovative in the use of material and space. I am thrilled about this collaboration and being able to present them with a permanent installation in Aarhus on the occasion of Kunsthal Aarhus’ 100 year anniversary. It is the first time the French design duo creates anything like it in Scandinavia. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have been incredibly generous and engaged in the collaboration with the us at the park surrounding Kunsthal Aarhus.”
