(mini)Festival to close FRAC’s seasonal programme “Relief(s)”

The highlight of the events programmed is a week-long workshop carried out by Peaks, a French architecture office, with the help of high-schoolers of Orléans.

The regional center for contemporary arts in Orléans, France -namely Les Turbulences FRAC Centre, designed by Jakob + Macfarlane Architects in 2013- is ending its summer activities with a final line-up of events that will take place from the 16th to the 20th of september.

FRAC will bring to an end the Relief(s) cycle of exhibitions and activities, coinciding with the official European Heritage Days, with a “(mini)Festival” in which futuristic architecture and contemporary arts will be joined by a festive and exciting program, organized in partnership with L’Astrolabe, CCNO and CDN.

Workshop “Construction and evolution of Systèmes des Objets” by Peaks
16/09/2015 — 20/09/2015

Showing a desire to offer a generous place for the young architectural scene, the cycle Relief(s) invites the four architects of Peaks to appropriate the Galerie des Turbulences and the Frac Centre’s spaces.
This weeklong workshop will be an opportunity to produce an evolving arrangement, which can be used by the public and adapted to the programme of events that will be held during the week of the (mini)Festival.

The produced surfaces will trigger alternative actions and uses, serving as an evolving floor for concerts, lectures, discussions and performances.

In an ongoing state of reconfiguration, the Turbulences will be transformed every day by architects and young participants from the Pothier High school (Orléans).

Peaks is a group of four French architects formed in 2013 by Charles Aubertin, Camille Dupont, Samuel Jaubert de Beaujeu et Eva Maloisel.

Their experiments seek to create the conditions of a new relation between users and architectural space. Through the constant dismantling and reassembly of a series of scenographic arrangements, they broadly question the contem¬porary practice of architecture through its relation to users, to the programme, to matter and to its own history.

Their collaboration has given rise to a series of projects involving the occupation of spaces executed in institutional settings (Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, Bozar in Brussels), as well as propositions made for international competitions (120H, IMOA). Peaks is currently involved in the realization of private and public commission projects.
