Showcasing architectural projects, models and designs, texts, photographs and videos, the exhibition is organized as a journey to discover the character of the island and invite reflections on possible developments.
The main intention of the exhibition is to raise awareness of the public interest issues such as the upgrading common areas and the territorial and architectural value in collective areas. Both suggested project interventions are divided on this common subject and are developed with a sensitive approach to nature and landscape contexts. The two proposals are placed in island of high environmental and historical value that are critical but at the same time have great redevelopment potential: Zirotti Palace and the waterfront in Località Ere.
“The idea of the project – explains architect Marcello Corti, curator of the exhibition – is redesigning spaces maintaining the functional continuity over time, translating their origin in a contemporary language and new requirements. Zirotti palace, also known as “House of the Doctor” – continues the architect – is new use in a public facility for sports and well-being of the person. The lakeside location in Ere, now used as a bathing area, is redesigned with the same tourist destination through new walkways, dining spaces and bike sharing and equipped to be lived both day and night, thanks to the will to merge in all the means of displacement of the island. “
The project is told through a year, the four seasons mark the different functions of the new medical and welfare structure: in the spring and summer it is characterized by its use for sports and body care, while ‘autumn and winter will mark the transition to a supporting role in rehabilitation. In the second, the lakefront is described through a day, where the daytime phase keeps the current use as beach and, during the evening, rarely lived today, finds new destination thanks to the inclusion of new activities.
“The exhibition – explains the Mayor Fiorello Turla – wants to be an opportunity to promote the area reflections and actions and has been designed to keep the memory and document the process of developing new proactive initiatives.” The exhibition is realized with the help of Riva, Berlucchi, Flos, TTM Rossi.
