Casa dell’Architettura in Rome is now featuring a small exhibition on the work of Franco Purini, an Italian architect, famous for his expressive drawings that join the spirit of modernist architecture, art and design. Along with the exhibition, which will be on show until April 17, the curators Pier Federico Caliari and Carola Gentilini have also organizd a short symposium, coinciding with the opening ceremony, reflecting on the Italian tradition of “paper architecture” and its contemporary role.
The excellence in joining design, art and architecture will be on show from 30th March until 17th April in Rome, at the Casa dell’Architettura – Aquario Romano, in an event entitled “The series and the paradigm. Franco Purini and the art of design among the modernists”, curated by Pier Federico Caliari and Carola Gentilini.
The event consists of an exhibition and a conference which, as a group, give life to the sequel of an initiative which had its first act at the Triennale and the Politecnico di Milano last January, enjoying a considerable critical success.
The headquarters of the Ordine degli Architetti in Rome will host both a conference and an exhibition, not just focusing on the artistic and graphic work of Franco Purini, but also carefully addressing the issue of how to review the great Italian tradition of “architettura disegnata” after the digital revolution that has transformed all former conditions.
This event opened on March 30 at 9:30 am with the first lecture session, followed by a second lecture and the inauguration of the exhibition in the afternoon session. The inauguration was attended by Franco Purini himself, as well as many architects and professors like Lucio Altarelli, Gianni Accasto, Livio Sacchi, Francesco Menegatti, Francesco Moschini, Romolo Martemucci, Roberto De Rubertis, Dina Nencini, Ernesto D’Alfonso, Luca Galofaro, Laura Thermes and Francesco Cellini.
