“New Horizons” Odile Decq’s work at House Of Arts In Ostrava

April 7, 2018

From April 5 until June 10 2018, Studio Odile Decq presents its work at House of Art in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Since its outset, Studio Odile Decq stands out for its capability to present architecture from an unusual point of view, going beyond the simple project presentation.

The exhibition HORIZONS presents nine projects in a non-descriptive and non-chronological way. Radically summarizing their conceptual volumes, the projects are transposed in a visual journey through their spatial experiences, in an array of scales ranging from the changing landscape of Tangshan National Geopark Museum to the evanescence of the Phantom’s plastic shapes.

“The horizon is an adventure and a negotiation, it can never be reached. The horizon line is a constant temptation which gives the desire of going beyond. The absence of limits blurs the perception and creates ambiguity, fusion and illusion. The consciousness of the elsewhere and the perception of the space beyond attract themselves on both sides of the horizon. Crossing the horizon is the way through the looking glass, the other side is not the inverse, it’s only the beyond. That’s the essence of architecture.” –Odile Decq
